Brooklyn General's own Mended Hearts Kit...for all the loves of your lives!
Sashiko is a traditional Japanese embroidery style that can be traced back to the 1600s. Sashiko has historically been used as both a decorative and functional stitching technique to extend the life of clothing. While the supplies included in this kit are used for traditional sashiko, you can also use them for any style of hand mending.
For more information on various hand mending styles, we recommend Katrina Rodabaugh's excellent mending guides, Mending Matters and Make Thrift Mend, as well as Arounna Khounnoraj's book Visible Mending.
Kit includes:
1 skein of Red Olympus Sashiko thread
2 Olympus Sashiko Needles
3 fancy Red denim and/or canvas patches - may differ from those shown in photo. Size of patches is approximately 5x7 inches.
1 small piece of red wool felt.
*Instructions are not included - the idea here is the same as a "sewing kit" with all the needed supplies for mending denim, rather than a "how-to" kit.
